Welcome to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Women’s Summit at UNC Charlotte

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Women’s Summit is a center for women’s public policy and leadership development in the Charlotte region, providing research and analysis on issues that impact women and developing women leaders. We are committed to ensuring that women’s perspectives are represented in research, public policy, leadership development, and education.

Founded as a community-based organization in 2006, and integrated into UNC Charlotte in July, 2010, the Women’s Summit continues to raise awareness of the current social and economic wellbeing of women, focusing on:

  • Employment and Earnings
  • Civic and political engagement
  • Social and Economic self-sufficiency
  • Health and well-being
  • Violence Against Women

In doing so, the Women’s Summit provides opportunities for research and education on women’s policy issues for faculty and students. We foster increased collaborations between community members and UNC Charlotte; enhance public knowledge of the educational opportunities and services provided by the Women’s Summit; and we increase both faculty and student research that addresses fundamental and regional issues for women.

2012 Women's Summit

2014 Biennial Charlotte-Mecklenburg Women's Summit--Save the Date!

It's never too early to start thinking about the 2014 Biennial Charlotte-Mecklenburg Women's Summit, so put it on your calendar right now!  It is scheduled for Friday, April 11, 2014--that's right, 2014--in the Student Union Ballroom at UNC Charlotte.

Plan to join us for a day filled with great networking opportunities, great speakers and information you can use.  You will hear the latest research on the status of women in Charlotte Mecklenburg and attend workshops on how to make a difference in our community.

In the coming months we will be sending occasional updates on our plans for the Summit.

If you would like to volunteer to help with this event, please contact Co-Director, Susan Jetton, at sjetton@uncc.edu.
